National Theatre 2001/2

25 October 2001: we celebrated twenty-five years on the South Bank. On this day five productions were in rehearsal, three parties explored backstage, the building buzzed with the sounds of jazz and Irish folk, we launched a new book, the National's three artistic directors talked to an audience of hundreds, ten of our productions played to thousands of people across London and the world and, with a spectacular firework finale, we turned the building into a giant birthday cake.

But our silver jubilee was just one day in the life of the National Theatre; here, in our Annual Review, are some reflections on what we did the rest of the year…
