Ticket Information

The information on this page is for performances at the National Theatre. Please see the following links for information on War Horse at the New London Theatre, One Man, Two Guvnors at the Adelphi Theatre and touring productions.

Day Tickets 

Tickets available on the day of performance, in person only and subject to availability:

Tickets are available for every show from 9.30am on the day of performance (12 noon on Sundays when there is a performance and varying times on Bank Holidays).

They may be limited to two per person.

Standing tickets

Once all seats are sold, we will then release £5 Standing Room tickets for sale (applies to performances at the National Theatre only).

Concessions

The prices for each production can be found on the 'Performance dates and Prices'  page for each production (follow the link in the right hand column on each production page).

Under 18 (available online)
Monday – Friday evenings and all matinees, excluding Travelex ticket performances.

Senior Citizen (60+) (available online)
Applies to midweek matinees.

Disabled People (available online but requires registration)
Discount and one companion at the same price call 020 7 452 3000.

Groups (rates for groups of 8-11, 12-19 and 20+ people)
Call 020 7 452 3010. Discount applies to top two prices (excluding previews, Travelex ticket performances, all Cottesloe shows and some co-productions). Subject to availability.

School group: (10+ people under 19yrs)
Call 020 7 452 3010. Discount not available for Saturday evenings and Travelex ticket performances.

College group:  (10+ people 19 – 25yrs) call 020 7 452 3010. Discount not available for Saturday evenings and Travelex ticket performances.

Other tickets available on the day of performance

Standing: £5 after all seats have sold out. Standing tickets are available, either in person or by phone.

Standby: £15 off top 3 prices in the Lyttelton; £5 off top 2 prices in the Cottesloe and Olivier Travelex £10 productions. All Preview performances £20.  Available from 90 minutes before a performance.

Student Standby: £10 from 45 minutes before (also unemployed, Stage Pass, SOLT, NCA, & theatre union members)

Returns: Some returned tickets may be available on the day, from the performance desk for each show, which opens 90 minutes before the start time

For very popular shows we would recommend you queuing as early as possible to have the greatest chance of getting returned tickets. We cannot guarantee that there will be returns available.

Ticket Exchanges / Cancellations

There are no refunds. However, tickets may be exchanged for a later performance or credit vouchers, on condition that we receive the tickets at least 24 hours before the performance (7 days for group bookings). There is an administration fee of £2 per ticket.

If you are not able to return the ticket(s) to the box office at least 24 hours before the performance, we may be able to resell them on your behalf. If the ticket(s) are successfully resold you will receive a refund, minus an administration fee of £2 per ticket, however, please note that the we must sell all of our own tickets first, before we will offer returned tickets for resale. Even for productions which have previously sold out we cannot guarantee successful resale of all returned tickets.

Tickets are valid only when issued by the National Theatre or an authorised agent.
Tickets may not, without written consent of the National Theatre, be resold for commercial purposes or at a premium, nor may it be packaged or used for advertising, promotional or other commercial purposes.
If a ticket is sold in breach of this condition, the bearer of the ticket will be refused admission.

Please Note: Strobe lighting, smoke effects and gunshots are sometimes used in productions; details are available from the Information Desk after the first preview. Concessions are limited and allocated at the management's discretion. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. Children under four are welcome in the foyers, however they cannot be admitted to the auditoriums.
