In conversation with Tonya Pinkins

As the run of Caroline, or Change comes to an end, the award-winning leading actress Tonya Pinkins talks about her multifarious career. As well as a wealth of stage, screen and recording work, she also teaches 'The Actorpreneur Attitude' which works on removing the hidden emotional blocks to success. Signed copies of her successful motivational book, Get Over Yourself, will be available from the bookshop.

Tonya Pinkins created the role of Caroline at New York's Public Theater and on Broadway, and received a Tony nomination for 'Best Actress in a Musical'. Her New York theatre work also includes Jelly's Last Jam (for which she received a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics' Circle Award and the Clarence Derwent Award), Play On! (Tony & Jeff nominations), The Wild Party and Merrily We Roll Along. Her television work includes the ABC drama All My Children and her films include Romance and Cigarettes and Above the Rim.

Offstage, the roles she has played in her life include single mother of four, welfare mother and deadbeat mother, as well as author, lecturer, painter, composer and filmmaker. In her motivational work she teaches people to become the star of their own stories and lives, and this Platform will offer a taste of this remarkable strand of her work.
