Pizarro

by Richard Brinsley Sheridan

Alongside The Royal Hunt of the Sun, a reading of the theatrical blockbuster of 1798. Sheridan's telling of the Peruvian struggle for independence against the Spanish is now virtually forgotten, but offers a fascinating insight into Sheridan the politician, with sections of a legendary parliamentary speech against the high crimes of the Governor General of Bengal transposed to the rallying cries of Commander Rolla.

With Scott Ainslie, Martin Carroll, Chipo Chung, Dave Fishley, Bradley Freegard, Caroline Gruber, Clive Llewellyn, Andrew McDonald, Gary McDonald, Murray Melvin and Craig Vye.

Directed by Lucy Pitman-Wallace.

Pizarro finished on: 12 July 2006
