Facilities for Deaf & Hearing Impaired People

Hearing Dogs for the DeafAssistance dogs can be taken into the auditoriums. Please mention this when booking and you'll be offered an aisle seat. Alternatively, dogs may be left in the care of front-of-house staff. Please phone 020 7452 3281 or fax 020 7452 3344 in advance of your visit. Captioned Performances
The National offers captioned performances for most productions. A block of seats are reserved to ensure a good view of the caption box or boxes. Sign Language Interpreted Performances
The National offers signed performances in all three theatres. A block of Stalls seats is reserved for deaf people to ensure a good view of the signer and the stage. If you need assistance during your visit, a number of our staff can communicate in basic British Sign Language. Hearing Enhancement & Headsets
An infrared audio system is available in all three theatres. Two types of hearing enhancement are available: headsets for people who don't use hearing aids, or neck loops for use with a hearing aid by switching it to the 'T' position. Headsets are essential and should be collected before the performance from the information desk in whichever theatre you're seeing a show. A small refundable deposit is required. Induction Loops
There are induction loops (marked by the symbol) at all bars, buffets, bookstalls, box offices, cloakrooms and at the main Information Desk and Bookshop. Scripts
