The Day I Stood Still

a new play by Kevin Elyot (1998)

In the sixties, teenagers Horace, Jerry and Judy flirted with drink, drugs, Hendrix, 'The Hobbit' and, of course, each other. Thirty years later, one of them receives a surprise visitor.

Set in north London, Kevin Elyot's sharply witty and moving new play is an elegiac tale of love, longing and an insatiable appetite for Mars bars.

His last play, My Night with Reg, won the Evening Standard and Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Comedy, as well as awards from the Writers' Guild and Critics' Circle. It has also been filmed for the BBC.

Director Ian Rickson's recent work includes The Weir and Mojo both at the Royal Court.

This play contains explicit language which some people may find offensive.

Approx running time 1 hour 45 mins
