Sleep With Me

a new play by Hanif Kureshi (1999)

Set over the course of a summer weekend in the country, Hanif Kureshi's first play for fifteen years is a fast-moving, tragi-comic satire, exposing the emotionally and sexually chaotic lives of a group of friends.

'They're all coming apart... attacking one another... affairs and heartbreak - most of the people I know. No one knows how to make themselves or anyone else happy. Marriage hardly seems worth the trouble.

Sleep With Me is Hanif Kureshi's first play for the National. His other work includes the novel and TV adaptation of The Buddha of Suburbia, the screenplay My Beautiful Laundrette and his latest novel, Intimacy.

Anthony Page's production of The Forest is in the Lyttelton repertoire. Other recent work includes Three Tall Womem and A Doll's House in the West End and Middlemarch for the BBC.
